Raatri Sookta


Raatri Sookta from Veda

(1) The Goddess "Night", who illuminates all the things at all places with its extensive organs of superegos etc., looks after all the creatures of the world created by herself, according to their own deed, and holds all the dignities to give their results accordingly.
(2) She is immortal,. She exists by defusing all the world , the creeping plants downside and the trees extending upward. Moreover, She destroys the darkness of ignorance, of all the creatures, by the light of the knowledge.
(3) The ultrapower Goddess Night comes and and calls the Goddess "Early Morning" which is full of divine knowledge, thereby destroying the darkness of ignorance automatically.
(4) May that Goddess Knight be pleased to me, on whose arrival we sleep comfortably in our houses and likewise the birds sleep in their nests comfortably in the night.
(5) All villagers, animals like Cow, Horse etc. and birds like Eagles, insects, and travelers etc. sleep comfortably on the lap of the kindhearted Goddess Night.
(6) O, Goddess Night, be kind to me and take away the sin and sinful desire from me. Take away the robbers, like desires etc. And then be easily available, auspicious lucky and saturation giving for us.
(7) O, Goddess Early-Morning, the darkness of ignorance has surrounded me all sides, clear it by granting me knowledge, as you clear the debts of your devotees by giving wealth to them.
(8) O, Goddess Night, you are like a milk giving Cow. I please you by admiring you. You are the daughter of the great sky, I have won the enemies, like desires etc., accept my prayer.


Sookta = A narration covering the brief description of any thing.
Veda = The 4 prime religious Books of "Sanatan Dharma" in India.
Raatri = Night.
